Fill My Cup Day Today I read poems by Emily Dickson seeking inspiration. I noticed with her unique style that she personifies things and concepts and describes them elegantly. For example, she depicts a funeral in her brain, hope as a bird, and takes a ride with death. One thing I notice or how I could approach this technique and how she dose it so well is by description first. The poem I saw that resembled this well, described hope as thing with feathers. A thing that sings. A thing perched on a soul. Without actually using the word she describes a bird and so the audience is envisioning hope as a bird through contexts clues. This technique is really intriguing to read and excited to try it |
